The Federal Road Utilidor Extension project stands as a vital upgrade to Iqaluit’s water infrastructure, addressing long-standing needs and laying the foundation for a more resilient and efficient water distribution and drainage system. This ambitious initiative focused on extending the utilidor watermain along Federal Road, beginning at AV2 and stretching toward the North 40 community, with its final endpoint at the City of Iqaluit Operations Center near building 1549. In addition to the watermain, Tower Arctic installed four new access vaults, strategically designed to streamline maintenance and minimize service disruptions, thereby enhancing the overall reliability of the water distribution system. Beyond these critical elements, the project also incorporated road reinstatement and drainage improvements, which were implemented to bolster the area’s infrastructure, improve accessibility, and reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall events.
